Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. So what are my thoughts on Age of Wonders 3? Let me just start by saying this is going to be a subjective review. The deal will end at 5 PM (BST), 9 AM (PDT), 11 AM (CDT), and midday (EDT) on Saturday the 11th of May: So pick up your copy now! If you are a fan a high fantasy, 4X games, or turn-based strategy I’d suggest, at the very least, giving Age of Wonders III a chance over soon. I’ll admit, I’ve yet to play an Age of Wonders game and now is my opportunity ahead of the release of Planetfall this August. Nonetheless, one could assume this promotion is to raise eyebrows about Triumph’s next game, Age of Wonders: Planetfall. Though if you are unfamiliar with the Age of Wonders series, Triumph previously released the Overlord series which to my memory is very similar to Fable, but less fun. However, the first game, Age of Wonders, was developed with connection with Epic MegaGames, Inc. Age of Wonders III is momentarily free over on Humble Bundle and is your high elves, giant spiders, and everything from Tolkien’s nightmares of Somme alongside Haig.Īge of Wonders III is the third game (duh!) in the Age of Wonders series, developed Danish developer, Triumph Studios. If you are looking for something a little more modern you’d say Civilization VI and Stellaris ( free weekend right now), but neither are the Game of Thrones or The Witcher 3 high fantasy. Of course, my go-to 4X style game would be Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. For most the idea is to be strategic, while I am a literal Douglas Haig in the Battle of Passchendaele.

I love 4X games: They are big, bombastic, and ridiculous! However, I am utterly hopeless at winning like a normal human, instead of using logic, I opt for throwing duct tape at a pipe spraying fecal matter everywhere.
